Ethan Chang

EDITORIAL DIRECTOR

Ethan Chang, a high school Sophomore, is a cellist and student of Jamie Kellogg. He started off learning piano at the age of 4, studying with the East Valley Yamaha Music School. Through his time there, Ethan developed an interest in composition, leading him to compose a piece that earned first prize at the 2024 MTNA’s AZ State Junior Composition competition and placed an Honorable Mention at the MTNA Southwest Division Competition.

At the age of 10, Ethan began to play the cello, quickly falling in love with its sound. As a solo performer, he has won an Honorable Mention at the 2025 Arizona MusicFest Competition. Ethan also enjoys the collaborative aspect of playing in an orchestra and chamber group, being a member of the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestra as well as the Arizona All-State Orchestra and the 2026 Montecito International Music Festival. 

Outside of music, Ethan loves giving back to the community. He organized and currently runs an annual food drive in partnership with Mom’s Pantry and volunteering at various non-profits.
